Pet Surgery

When your pet is in need of surgery, the team at Little River Veterinary Clinic is committed to ensuring that they are safe and well-cared-for at all times. We maintain the highest standards of veterinary care in the industry, adhering to the very stringent requirements recommended for animal hospitals by the highest associations in veterinary medicine.

Before Surgery

When surgery is first prescribed for your pet’s needs, we will discuss all of the important details with you to help you choose the best options for your pet. We will often recommend advanced diagnostics to ensure that we have the full picture of your pet’s needs. For example, if a mass or foreign body needs to be removed, x-rays can often help us determine its location so that we can perform the least invasive surgery possible.

Before your pet is anesthetized for surgery, we will also recommend pre-anesthetic blood work to help determine whether your pet is healthy enough for surgery. If we identify anything abnormal, we will take further steps to ensure that your pet is safe before attempting surgery.

Surgical Monitoring During Surgery

While your pet’s surgery is being performed at our veterinary hospital, we provide complete surgical monitoring to ensure that your pet is safe. We utilize the following monitoring precautions & supportive care:

We use the safest possible anesthesia protocols to keep your pet safe and healthy at all times, and we have trained veterinary technicians on hand throughout your pet’s surgery in case your pet needs additional care. If you have questions about your pet’s surgical needs, please contact our team. We’re always here to ensure that your pet’s needs are met!
